The Future of North Dakota |

|
Anyone have any thoughts on ensuring the "future" of North Dakota? ...and I mean the "way of
life" - you know - how we were brought up; the values our parents instilled in us, e.g., caring for the land, being a good neighbor - that sort of thing.
I would like to hear other thoughts on this.

At the rate we're going, there won't be ANY values left as we knew them. Who the H cares about their neighbors any more? You have high-falutin' folks (in their minds, at any rate) throwing their weight around and doing what they danged well please. "Oh, you didn't want that 20,000+ pig factory built near your land? (Let me think a minute - hmmmm, lots of PROFIT for me.) TOO BAD, I'm building it anyway. Oh, but hey, you can always move - I'll be glad to buy your property. Let me give you a price."
Sound familiar? Who cares? You think the city council or the county commissioners are going to do anything about it - oh, like maybe enforce zoning ordinances or something? Guess again. It ain't the same Cando, North Dakota that we grew up in, honey. (Hate to burst your bubble.) |

My biggest concern is the HUMANE care of the animals out there. Factory farms are notorious for abusing their
animals. Overcrowding, physical abuse, etc. The Humane Society has gone undercover at many of these horrid facilities and exposed abuse that would make a
regular person vomit. More people need to get involved.... stop being afraid to speak up for the animals. After all, it's our duty to speak for those who
cannot speak for themselves. You can even turn these places in anonymously! Our house has switched to ORGANIC, grass-fed meat, meaning the animals live normal,
happy lives on green pastures with good shelters and high quality diets with no added anti-biotics or growth stimulants. The pastures can't even be
sprayed. Nothing is locked up in over-crowded conditions. We eat guilt-free in our home. The best thing any of us can do is buy our meat from a small farmer,
where one animal at a time is butchered and they aren't hauled out in semi-loads. Make the call, change your life-style and eat guilt-free!
One day we will all stand before God and He will ask us what we have done with the things He gave us, the animals and nature that He gave us dominion over. I will be happy to say that I was not a part of the abuse.
